Up to £57,000 per annum (up to 2 days per week)
On 15th December 2011, the Home Secretary announced the Government’s intention to set up a police professional body. This follows a period of significant police reform with the introduction of police and crime commissioners. All of this against a backdrop of significant fiscal challenges.
The College of Policing is to be established with a powerful mandate, promoting excellence, ethics and values, combined with first class national standards of effective policing and professionalism, protecting the public interest across England and Wales.
As Chair of the College of Policing, you will provide outstanding leadership for the establishment of this new body. With strong ambition, independence and vision, as the first senior appointment you will bring the dynamism and tenacity required to set its tone. You must ensure the body acts in the public interest and supports officers and staff to deliver the highest quality police service.
You will bring proven skills in governance and board leadership, unimpeachable integrity and exceptional partnership-building abilities. You will have a strong commercial background in order to bring about transformational change and will hit the ground running to deliver a complex programme, within challenging timescales.
If you can rise to this challenge please contact: Esther Green 07802 689718 or Balvinder Sangha 07739 508312.
Closing date is 12 noon 27th August 2012. Please note: confirmation of this appointment is subject to relevant security checks.
In the interests of good governance and public accountability, it is intended that the Chair will bring a wider perspective from outside the world of policing, through significant business experience. The role will not, therefore, be suitable for serving police officers or someone who very recently ceased serving as a police officer. The police service will be represented through other allocated board positions.
