Rockpools and Lewisham develop a long-term approach to recruiting and nurturing talent

In December 2007, Rockpools signed an exciting two-year contract with the London Borough of Lewisham. The contract is an innovative leadership development and recruitment arrangement. The partnership provides Lewisham’s existing senior managers with the support and help they need to nurture rising stars from within the council.

Since beginning this contract, the Rockpools team has worked closely with the council to identify staff at all levels with great potential and help to develop them. This not only ensures that Lewisham has a first class top team of senior managers, but also provides these individuals with personalised support to take their careers forward, whether this is within the council or by looking for opportunities elsewhere.

The services which Rockpools provide include talent development centres, individual career coaching, employer branding, an online talent bank, executive search and recruitment expertise.

By taking this long-term approach, the council demonstrates that recruitment is not a one-off commodity and has demonstrated its commitment to top team succession planning, leadership development and tackling the under-representation of diverse groups at senior levels in the Council.
