Esther Green

Esther joined Rockpools in September 2006 as Bid Manager. She works across the business with partners and consultants to coordinate our bids and develop our quality systems, customer care and information management.

Prior to joining Rockpools, Esther worked at the London Borough of Hackney, initially in the Directorate of Law & Democratic Services where she advised Members on governance responsibilities and community leadership and engagement. She was lead officer in one of the borough’s four Neighbourhoods, liaising with Members, residents and partners on local policies, activities and communications.

In 2004, Esther was seconded to work with the lead Director as a member of the cross-departmental team which developed Hackney’s customer focus and quality strategy. This initiative has driven significant organisational and cultural change, resulting in improving performance, in the authority. She had particular responsibility for change management and translating strategic objectives into service-specific project plans, matrix-working with senior managers and mentoring staff across the authority. Communication with internal and external stakeholders was a key element of her role and Esther delivered focus groups, newsletters, presentations and policy advice to a wide diversity of audiences.

This corporate experience led to Esther being asked to project manage the initiation of Hackney’s flexible working programme in 2006, which will introduce major changes to staff working patterns and service delivery, in line with innovations elsewhere in the private and public sectors. Most recently, she re-scoped corporate project and risk management processes.

Esther started her career at the headquarters of one of the main UK political parties, where she was a national officer managing relationships between MPs and affiliated organisations across the country, particularly in support of election campaigns. During the 1997 General Election she took the lead in this role in one of the English regions.

She has also worked in the voluntary sector as a fundraiser and bid-writer. A commitment to public service led Esther to become an elected Member herself, in the London Borough of Lambeth in the late 1990s.
